What is the ruling on renting out properties for forbidden practices, such as renting apartments with satellite channels, barbershops for shaving beards and forbidden haircuts, and buildings for usurious banks? And does the sin continue to affect the heirs and the deceased if the rental agreement was concluded before the father's death?
It is not permissible to rent residential apartments if they contain devices that enable their occupants to watch satellite channels, or if it is highly probable that the tenant will use them for illicit purposes.
It is forbidden to rent shops to barbershops that shave beards, unless the tenant commits to Islamic regulations. Similarly, it is forbidden to rent shops to usurious banks.
If the lessor dies, and he had leased a shop to a usurious bank, the heirs must terminate the contract if they are able to do so. Otherwise, they are not permitted to renew it after its term expires. The deceased lessor, if he was aware of the prohibition, bears the sin as long as the property remains in the possession of the bank. If he was ignorant, there is no sin upon him, and it is recommended that his heirs seek forgiveness for him and give charity on his behalf.
