The answer

The upright person must remain steadfast in obedience and pray for guidance for himself and his family. He should also benefit from the stories of the prophets in patience and perseverance. Being described as "strict" or "extremist" should not be an obstacle or consume his time. Agreements that undermine uprightness, such as intermingling in public places, must be avoided, even if it leads to the family's displeasure. In contrast, it is advisable to draw closer to the family by engaging in permissible acts, such as permissible adornment, eating with them, and maintaining kinship ties, in order to encourage them towards uprightness and to dispel the accusation of being "strict," while being extremely careful not to commit forbidden acts or neglect obligations, for pleasing Allah takes precedence over pleasing people.
