What is the ruling on hair transplantation for the head, eyebrows, and eyelashes for men and women in cases of illness, malnutrition, hereditary hair loss, and for beautification?

It is Islamically permissible to undergo hair transplantation surgery to treat hair loss, whether its cause is illness, heredity, or otherwise. This is based on the حديث (Hadith) of Arfajah ibn Asad, which permits the use of a nose made of gold, and on the Hadith: "May Allah curse the women who tattoo..." which indicates that what is forbidden is that which is done for the purpose of seeking beauty, not for treatment. The resolution of the Islamic Fiqh Academy states the permissibility of necessary and essential cosmetic surgery, including hair transplantation in cases of hair loss, especially for women. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen issued a fatwa allowing it, as it falls under the category of restoring what Allah created and removing a defect, and is not considered altering Allah's creation.
