Is it permissible to perform cosmetic surgery on the ear or hair transplantation due to hair loss and the change in facial appearance after shaving?

Hair transplantation after hair loss is permissible, by analogy with the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) permission for Arfajah ibn Sa’d to wear a nose of gold after his nose was cut off in battle.

As for other cosmetic surgeries, they are not permissible if they are merely for improving appearance and beautification, because they involve altering Allah’s creation, which is an act of Satan. However, if the surgery is to remove a defect or disfigurement, it is permissible.

The rule is that whatever is for the removal of a defect is permissible, and whatever is for increasing beautification is not permissible, such as rhinoplasty if its largeness is considered a defect. However, if the reduction is merely for beautification, it is not permissible.
