Is interpreting dreams and interpreting the symbols mentioned within them, such as abduction and embrace, forbidden or permissible?
The knowledge of stars, zodiac signs, luck, and horoscopes is considered an act of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance) that Islam abolished. This is because it involves attachment to other than Allah, believing that harm and benefit come from other than Him, and crediting soothsayers and diviners who claim knowledge of the unseen. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever acquires knowledge from the stars has acquired a branch of magic; the more he acquires, the more he increases." And he said: "He is not one of us who practices evil omens or for whom they are practiced, or who divines or for whom divination is made, or who practices magic or for whom magic is practiced." Allah alone has reserved the knowledge of the unseen for Himself. Therefore, one must repent and rely on Allah and trust in Him, while taking lawful and permissible religious and material means, and keeping away from these matters of Jahiliyyah.
