Can it be said that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is still alive, based on evidence such as: "The deeds of my Ummah are presented to me," and his returning greetings to whoever invokes blessings upon him, and the fact that martyrs are alive, as Allah Almighty says: "Rather, they are alive with their Lord"?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away, but he is alive in his grave, a life of the Barzakh (definition) whose nature is known only to Allah the Almighty. The proof for this is that his soul is returned to him so that he may return the salutations to whoever greets him, and also because the earth is forbidden from consuming the bodies of the prophets. The deeds of his Ummah are presented to him every Friday, and there are numerous, continuously transmitted (mutawatir) proofs that the prophets are alive in their graves and pray. The return of the soul does not mean its separation from the body and then its return, but rather it is a metaphor for an absolute becoming.
