What is the ruling on someone who practiced masturbation out of ignorance of its prohibition in the past, then quit it, but it recurs involuntarily in her dreams?

The ruling on this bad habit and its harms has been previously discussed in Fatwa No. 33352. For what you did by practicing it while ignorant of its ruling, seek Allah's forgiveness. However, now that you know its ruling and Allah has guided you to repent from it, it is not permissible for you to return to it. You must strive against your soul in this regard. We have explained in the aforementioned fatwa some advice that can help in quitting it. What issues from you during sleep is not held against you, because the pen is lifted from the sleeper.
