What is the ruling on one who discourages people from marrying working Muslim women, under the pretext that a woman's work is impermissible, even if her work is in accordance with Sharia guidelines and in female-only environments?

The actions of those in charge of the minbar (pulpit) in preventing the marriage of working women are impermissible, due to the resulting harms and the spread of spinsterhood. A woman's work is not a religiously valid impediment to marriage. The religious criterion is piety and good character, as stated in the Hadith: "A woman is married for four reasons... so choose the one who is religious, and you will prosper." And the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "The world is a provision, and the best provision of the world is a righteous woman." The claim that a woman must not work is incorrect. While the default is for a woman to be in her home, she is permitted to go out to work when there is a need, provided she adheres to the Sharia regulations.
