What is the wisdom behind the occurrence of the phrase "does not love" in a number of verses, while the phrase "detests" or "dislikes" (yakrahu) occurs in a limited form, such as in His, the Almighty's, saying: "But Allah detested their being sent forth"?

The Quran's use of "does not love" instead of "hates" – as in His saying, the Almighty: (Indeed, Allah does not love the wrongdoers) – reflects the precision of Qur'anic expression and the vastness of Allah's mercy. "Does not love" opens the door for wrongdoers to repent and abandon wrongdoing, so they may attain Allah's love, whereas "hates" would close this door. This Qur'anic style encourages those who possess qualities that Allah does not love to abandon them in order to gain His love.
