Is it permissible to use photographic images of living beings for educational purposes, whether within games, stories, electronic text explanations, or printed books, and is it permissible to use the outline or background of these images for a child to complete or color?

It is forbidden to draw and photograph animate beings, whether it is sculpting, drawing on paper or cloth, or if the image is real or imaginary. This is due to the severe warning mentioned in the prophetic hadiths. Exceptions to this include pictures of children or what is made for them, even if they are sculptures, and digital images on devices unless they are printed on a fixed object, except for children. Also exempt are images lacking distinct features, and images from which a part essential for life has been removed.

Based on this, it is permissible to use photographic images displayed electronically, and it is not permissible to draw them completely except for children. It is also permissible to print paper copies of photographic images of animate beings if they are for children. It is not permissible to use them in adult books unless they are blurred, or their features are emptied, or they are incomplete. It is permissible to use outlines of photographic images for a child to complete or color them.
