What is the ruling on eating Egyptian fesikh?

The jurists of the four madhhabs (schools of thought) have held that the small feseekh is ritually pure due to the difficulty in cleaning its internal organs. As for the large feseekh, they differed on two opinions:

1. First Opinion: Its purity, which is the view of the Hanafis, Hanbalis, and some Malikis. They argue that fish, its dead body, its internal organs, and what flows from it are ritually pure, and that the blood that comes out of it is either pure or not blood in the first place, and that the liquids that exude from it after salting are pure.

2. Second Opinion: Its impurity, which is the view of the majority of Malikis and Shafi'is. They argue for its impurity based on the impurity of its internal organs and the flowing of gushing blood from it.

The preponderant opinion is the purity of feseekh and the permissibility of eating it, unless its health detriment is proven. However, it is preferable to avoid it to steer clear of the differing opinions.
