What is the ruling on going to a female shaykha who recites the Quran over incense and papers, and takes money in exchange for that?

It is not permissible to open the Qur’an to deduce the condition of an afflicted person or to claim affliction with such-and-such, as this is an act of sorcerers and charlatans. Ruqyah al-Shari’yah (Islamic exorcism) with the Qur’an is permissible, and taking a fee for it is also permissible. It is likewise permissible to write verses from the Qur’an and then wash them in water for the afflicted person to drink or bathe with in a pure place. It is advisable to abandon reciting the Qur’an over incense and to suffice with ruqyah, unless a specific incense is proven beneficial by trustworthy testimonies. To convince the mother, she can be told that a mother's prayer is answered and that she should perform ruqyah on her daughter herself. If it becomes necessary to seek ruqyah from others, then careful inquiry should be made about theaqi performers, ensuring the correctness of their belief and their distance from sorcery and charlatanism.
