What is the reason for the lack of innate and emotional acceptance toward girls proposed for marriage, while a young man is attracted to girls he sees in public places? Is this a natural feeling or a temptation from Satan, and how can it be overcome?

A woman is 'awrah (something to be covered), and when she goes out, Satan makes her appealing and beautifies her in the eyes of men to tempt them into zina (unlawful sexual intercourse). This is what happens to a person who finds women he sees on the streets appealing, and it is from the guile and whisperings of Satan, in addition to the innate inclination of men towards women. Therefore, one must seek refuge in Allah from Satan and adhere to lowering the gaze, as Allah Almighty commanded: "Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do. And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their private parts." As for not finding the woman one goes to propose to appealing, that is a common occurrence. It is advisable not to be excessive in choosing, lest marriage, which is a safeguard for a man, be delayed. One can be content as long as there is nothing repulsive about her, for love and affection develop over time and through extensive companionship after marriage.
