The answer

The scholars differed concerning the ruling on fasting the days of Tashreeq, holding three opinions:

The first opinion: Fasting them is absolutely impermissible. The second opinion: It is permissible to fast them as supererogatory or other for everyone. The third opinion: It is permissible to fast them for the mutamatti' (one performing Tamattu' Hajj) if he cannot find the sacrificial animal, and not permissible for anyone else. This is the most preponderant opinion in terms of evidence, and it is supported by the hadith of Ibn Umar and Aisha: "Permission was not given to fast the days of Tashreeq except for one who could not find the sacrificial animal."
