Why do we invoke blessings and peace upon Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him, in prayer, to the exclusion of all other prophets, even though he is neither the first nor the last of the Ulul Azm (Prophets of Steadfast Resolve)?

Allah Almighty distinguished Abraham (peace be upon him) with great virtues and noble deeds. He is the Imam, the nation, the Hanif, and the best of prophets and messengers after our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Allah took him as a beloved friend (Khalil). All prophets after him were from his descendants, except for Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who was from the lineage of Ishmael. Abraham is the father of the Arabs, and our Prophet is from his lineage. Allah commanded our Prophet to follow his creed. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen was asked about the reason for specifying Abraham with the call to monotheism, and he replied that all prophets called to monotheism, but Abraham is the father of the Arabs, the Israelites, and the Muslims, and he is the one of Hanifism, and we are commanded to follow him. The scholar Badr al-Din al-Ayni mentioned another reason for his specific mention in prayer: Abraham greeted the Ummah of Muhammad on the night of the Mi'raj, and he supplicated for the Ummah of Muhammad after he finished building the Kaaba.
