Is a period of one week sufficient for the effacement of sins after repentance from adultery and grave sins?
Zina (fornication/adultery) is a grave sin, which Allah has described as an abomination. Allah Almighty has associated zina with shirk (associating partners with Allah) and killing a soul, and has threatened its perpetrator with a doubled punishment on the Day of Judgment and an eternity therein in disgrace, except for those who repent, believe, and perform righteous deeds. For indeed, Allah transforms their evil deeds into good deeds. Therefore, whoever has committed this grave sin must repent sincerely to Allah and regret their action, for Allah accepts the repentance of His servants and forgives all sins. To prevent zina, a believer must block the pathways of Shaytan (Satan) by lowering their gaze and avoiding seclusion. Repentance erases what came before it, provided its conditions are met.
