What is the remedy for a man who has excessive desire that extends to unlawful relations (maharem), knowing that he observes the five daily prayers in the mosque, fasts on Mondays and Thursdays, and has a portion of night prayer?
A man must avoid everything that leads to the unlawful if he fears temptation from his female mahrams. Therefore, it is not permissible for him to be alone with them, nor to look at them with desire, because that is forbidden by scholarly consensus. He should hasten to marry, as it is the prophetic way to protect oneself and lower one's gaze. If he cannot, then he should fast. He should also avoid everything that arouses his desires. If he is exposed to the whisperings of Satan, he should seek refuge in Allah, lower his gaze, and divert his thoughts by reciting the Qur'an, performing ablution and prayer, and supplicating, especially during night prayers.
