Does the divorce of an angry person take effect? And is there any good or sin in it?

The divorce of an angry person who does not know what he is saying is not binding. However, if he is aware of what he is saying, his divorce is like any other. Divorce is subject to the five legal rulings:

1. Obligatory (Wajib): Such as the divorce of a man who has taken an oath of abstinence (mu'li) and the divorce decided by arbitrators in cases of discord.

2. Disliked (Makrooh): This is divorce without need, and it may be forbidden (haram) or permissible (mubah).

3. Permissible (Mubah): When there is a need for it due to the wife's bad character.

4. Recommended (Mandub): When the wife neglects Allah's rights, or if she is unchaste, or in cases of discord.

5. Forbidden (Haram/Bid'i): This is divorce during menstruation or during a period of purity in which intercourse has occurred. The one who issues such a divorce incurs sin.

"Releasing [her] with kindness" in the verse (Al-Baqarah: 229) does not mean initiating divorce. Rather, it means not taking the wife back after two divorces and leaving her until her waiting period (iddah) ends, so she becomes irrevocably separated from him without injustice or harm.
