What is the ruling on a son cutting ties with his father who abandoned him as a fetus in his mother's womb, deserted him throughout his life, and did not look after his affairs?

It is advisable to send questions related to marital disputes to the counseling department. Divorce may be a solution, or perhaps patience is better. Allah may compensate both spouses after separation, as stated in His Almighty قول: {وَإِنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا يُغْنِ اللَّهُ كُلًّا مِنْ سَعَتِهِ} (And if they separate [by divorce], Allah will enrich each of them from His abundance). Parents are not permitted to make divorce a source of bitterness for their children. A father's neglect of providing for his children is a grave dereliction and a major sin. There is no blame upon the children if they unintentionally feel hatred towards him. Despite the father's shortcomings, children must treat him kindly, accompany him with goodness, and not abandon him or neglect his rights, even if he has wronged them. This is because Allah has commanded kindness to parents and has linked their right to His own right.
