What should I do to repent to Allah and become beloved among people, especially since I sometimes abandon prayer, and I feel distressed and unsuccessful, and I believe that my car has corrupted me and caused me to decline academically, so should I leave my studies and go to work?
The feeling of desolation, lack of success, and difficulty in affairs are effects of sins and transgressions. One who abandons Allah's command does not know happiness; rather, their life becomes turbulent. Hasten to repent to Allah from abandoning prayer and all other sins. Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on one who abandons prayer out of laziness: some have said it is major disbelief, while others have said it is minor disbelief and the commission of a grave sin. If you desire people's satisfaction and love, make Allah your greatest concern, for whoever Allah loves, He grants them acceptance on earth. To maintain repentance, abandon the causes of corruption, and use your car for what benefits you; if it will lead you to the forbidden, then abandon it. Seek righteous companionship, acquire beneficial knowledge, and cooperate with them in good deeds, and listen frequently to Islamic tapes. Consult the wise among your relatives regarding your studies and work, and seek Allah's guidance through istikharah.
