The answer

Tarawih prayer is mustahabb (recommended) and not wajib (obligatory). Therefore, whoever deliberately misses it incurs no sin, but they miss out on much good, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever performs Qiyam (standing in prayer) during Ramadan with faith and expecting Allah's reward, all his past sins will be forgiven." Scholars differ on making up Tarawih prayer if its time has passed. Many of them are of the view that it is not required to make it up, while some hold the view that it is mustahabb (recommended) to make it up.
