Did the Prophet (peace be upon him) or the Companions perfume themselves before every prayer, or only on Fridays?

It is recommended to use perfume for Friday prayers and for 'Ihram (before 'Ihram and after the first 'tahallul'). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, frequently used perfume without restricting it to a specific time or act of worship. It is also recommended for anyone who intends to attend gatherings of people, such as congregational prayers or study circles, to wear perfume.
