Is it obligatory to use detergents like soap when performing ghusl to cleanse oneself from ritual impurity (janabah)?

The obligatory act in performing ghusl (ritual bath) for major ritual impurity is merely to make water flow over the entire body, without stipulating the use of soap or detergents. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to suffice with pouring water over his body. The proof for this is what 'A'isha, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, "When he performed ghusl for janabah (ritual impurity due to sexual intercourse or seminal emission)... then he would pour three handfuls of water over his head with both hands, then he would pour water over his entire skin." And what Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated: "She said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman who braids her hair tightly, so should I undo it for ghusl for janabah? He said: (No, it is sufficient for you to pour three handfuls of water over your head, then you pour water over yourself and you become pure)." If soap is used, there is no harm in that.
