Is it permissible for the husband to leave the house to cool down after a dispute with his wife?
It is best for spouses to resolve disputes through calm dialogue and for each party to try to satisfy the other, as this fosters lasting affection. If the husband fears that anger will overcome him, leading to undesirable consequences, then there is no harm in him leaving the house until he calms down. He can then return to appease his wife or for her to appease him, just as Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) did when he left Fatimah's house in anger, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) went to him in the mosque.
