Is the narration true which states that Omar (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting with his daughter Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her), and one of the Companions saw them and said to him: "O Omar, fear Allah, Satan is the third of you two"? And must this concept be applied, meaning that a father should not speak with his daughter if they are alone in a room, as if that is from piety?

This narration has not been authenticated in the recorded books and is not sound in its meaning. It contradicts what is stated in the authentic narrations about Umar entering upon his daughter Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) while she was alone during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), without any objection. It also contradicts the clear text of the Qur’an which permits a woman to uncover in front of her father. Therefore, what your father is doing is wrong. It is permissible for him to be alone with you, speak with you, and see your apparent adornment, as long as there is no fear of temptation.
