What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a man divorcing his pregnant wife over the phone in secret, and his demand for her to abort the fetus, knowing that the marriage contract was only religiously valid and not officially documented?

First: Your father made a mistake by agreeing to the unofficial marriage contract without official registration, because it leads to serious harm, such as the children not being officially attributed to the father and the loss of the wife's financial rights.

Second: Divorce occurs through a message sent by the husband via mobile phone if it is proven to be from him and that he intended divorce by it.

Third: Divorcing a pregnant woman is Islamically valid and in accordance with the Sunnah. Since the husband admitted to sending the message and intending divorce, the divorce has occurred and counts as one pronouncement. Her waiting period (iddah) is until she gives birth. She must remain in the marital home and it is not permissible to expel her. The husband has more right to take her back during the iddah.

Fourth: The husband's request to abort the fetus in the sixth month is forbidden and a reprehensible act. It is the unjustified killing of a soul, and it entails sin, blood money, and expiation for both of them. Therefore, it is not permissible to obey him in this, and the wife must beware of aborting her fetus. It is advised to officially document the marriage contract if reconciliation occurs. If he insists on divorce, she must be patient and entrust her affairs to Allah.
