Who is the author of the book "Kalila wa Dimna"?

It is well-known that the author of the book "Kalila wa Dimna" is Abdullah ibn al-Muqaffa', but the correct understanding is that he translated it. Its origin goes back to the Indian philosopher Bidpai, who authored it for the Indian king Dabshalim. Ibn al-Muqaffa', who arabized the book, was accused of apostasy (zandaqa).
