Is Gabriel the most powerful of Allah's creatures, and is it permissible to love angels such as Gabriel and the bearers of the Throne?
A Muslim should be keen on acquiring beneficial knowledge and avoid contrived questions that are not related to practice, as stated in the hadith: "Indeed, Allah dislikes for you 'qil wa qal' (gossiping), asking too many questions, and wasting money." The Imams disliked asking about what is not beneficial. Imam Ahmad was once asked about Gog and Magog: "Are they Muslims?" He replied: "Have you mastered knowledge so much that you ask about this?" The Companions used to ask the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about real-life situations that benefited them, not about hypothetical matters. As for Gabriel, peace be upon him, we do not know whether he is the strongest of creatures or not. As for the angels, it is legislated to love them for their worship of Allah and their seeking forgiveness for the believers.
