Did God decree death upon the children of Lot's people, 'Ad, and others, along with their kin, when they were swallowed by the earth?

The young perish with the old in a general chastisement because the chastisement encompasses all people. Then, they will be resurrected according to their deeds and intentions. The chastisement will thus be a purification for the righteous and a retribution for the wicked. If evil becomes manifest and abomination widespread, then destruction will encompass both the obedient and the disobedient. As for the children of the disbelievers, they will be tested on the Day of Resurrection.
