What is the story of the Beast (Dabbah) that emerges as one of the signs of the Hour, and what are the signs of its appearance?

The Dabba (Beast) is one of the unseen matters whose existence is confirmed by the Quran and Sunnah. Allah Almighty mentioned it in Surah An-Naml (The Ants): "And when the word befalls them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth, who will speak to them that mankind, concerning Our verses, were not convinced." There is disagreement regarding its true nature and the place of its emergence. Authentic Ahadith indicate that it is one of the major signs of the Hour, and that it will emerge carrying the staff of Moses and the ring of Solomon to distinguish the believer from the disbeliever. As for the signs of its emergence, they include: the corruption of time, people's turning away from Allah's commands, the removal of knowledge, and the spread of enmity.
