How do we balance enthusiasm in calling to Allah with guarding against self-admiration and arrogance? And what is better: to observe Allah and oneself in one's work, or to observe the work with all one's senses?

The preacher should combine good faith in Allah with strong argumentation, without harshness or arrogance. He should not despair if people do not respond to his call, but rather remember that he is tasked with the call, not with the response. He should recall the patience of prophets like Noah (peace be upon him), and consider his inability to persuade people as an impetus to exert more effort. The preacher must purify himself from self-admiration and vanity, and combine monitoring Allah with self-accountability for sincerity and perfection in work, which is known as Ihsan.
