Is it permissible for me to authorize the one paying Zakat al-Fitr to take it from himself on my behalf due to the circumstances of the coronavirus?

It is permissible for a poor person to authorize a rich person to receive zakat from their money, to keep it with them, and for the poor person to take it whenever they wish. For zakat to be validly discharged, it is a condition that the poor person owns it and takes possession of it. If the zakat payer fears that the poor person might spend the zakat on non-essential needs, they may ask the poor person about the things they need and then purchase them for them with the zakat money.
