Is the husband considered sinful if he divorces his wife due to a lack of feelings towards her, despite his attempts to be patient and his feeling of falling short in his marital duties?
First: The success of a marriage does not depend on whether it is traditional or based on love. Indeed, a traditional marriage may succeed while a romantic one fails, so ease your mind.
Second: Remember the saying of Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him: "Not all homes are built on love, but on companionship according to lineage and Islam." Love can be achieved later.
Third: Look at the positive aspects of your wife. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, advised: "A believing man should not hate a believing woman; if he dislikes one characteristic in her, he will be pleased with another." Emulate the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in his love for Khadijah and his mention of her virtues.
Fourth: If the woman is righteous and religiously upright, you can keep her and consider marrying another if you are capable of being just, based on the words of the Almighty: {marry [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one}.
Fifth: We advise you to keep her if possible, especially if you have a child with her, for divorce is disliked unless there is a need for it. And Allah may enrich each of you from His bounty if separation occurs, as the Almighty says: {But if they separate [by divorce], Allah will enrich each [of them] from His abundance. And Allah is ever encompassing and wise}.
