What is the religious ruling regarding a husband who invariably sides with his sisters over his wife in their disputes, under the pretext of maintaining kinship ties, even though he is certain that his sisters are fabricating lies against his wife?
A husband must treat his wife with kindness and not oppress her to please his family. Rather, he should combine maintaining kinship ties with treating his wife well. If he supports his sisters against his wife unjustly or infringes upon her rights, he is sinful and oppressive. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against oppressing women, saying: "O Allah, I declare inviolable the rights of the two weak ones: the orphan and the woman." The husband is advised to fear Allah and not oppress his wife, and to be wise in managing affairs without severing kinship ties or oppressing his wife. The wife is also advised to be patient with her husband and his family and to overlook their shortcomings.
