What is the authenticity of the hadith: "O Lord, which of Your servants is most beloved to You, so that I may love him with Your love? He said: The most beloved of My servants to Me is one who is pure of heart, clean of hands, does not walk towards anyone with evil intent; he loves Me, and loves those who love Me, and makes Me beloved to My creation. He said: O Lord, You know that I love You and I love those who love You, so how can I make You beloved to Your creation? He said: Remind them of My signs, My blessings, and My trials?"

The aforementioned hadith was narrated by Al-Bayhaqi and Ibn Asakir from Ibn Abbas, and its wording is that David asked his Lord: "Which of Your servants is most beloved to You, so that I may love him with Your love?" Allah said: "The most beloved of My servants to Me is one pure of heart and hand, who does not harm anyone and does not walk with slander, and who loves Allah and those who love Him, and makes Allah beloved to His servants by reminding them of His bounties, His trials, and His blessings." And He added: "O David, there is no servant who helps an oppressed person, or walks with him in his oppression, but that I will make his feet firm on the Day when feet slip." This hadith is not authentic, as it contains Ishaq ibn Abd al-Rahman Abu Farwah, who is abandoned (matruk), and his narration from Ali ibn Abi Talha from Ibn Abbas is disconnected (munqati').
