How is inheritance distributed among the children and heirs of people from the Baron region of Nuristan, the majority of whom willingly embraced Islam a hundred years ago, while some remained disbelievers and died in their disbelief, or their conversion to Islam was not clearly established and they died in that state?

The majority of scholars, including the four Imams, hold the view that a Muslim does not inherit from a disbeliever, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "A Muslim does not inherit from a disbeliever, nor does a disbeliever inherit from a Muslim." However, some scholars differed on this matter, and Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah preferred their view, which permits a Muslim to inherit from a non-belligerent disbeliever. According to the view of the majority, if the faith or disbelief of the deceased is unknown, the matter of inheritance is suspended until evidence is established for their Islam or disbelief, as mentioned by Al-Shafi'i.
