Is choosing symbols, numbers, or letters in SMS messages to determine a future event or a person's character a form of predicting the unseen, and is responding to it an act of disobedience?

Knowledge of the unseen is exclusive to Allah alone, and He does not reveal it to anyone except whom He chooses from His messengers. There are verses and hadiths that confirm this, among them the Almighty's saying: (And to Allah belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs), and His saying: (Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah.")

Therefore, what is mentioned in the question regarding messages of divination and foretelling the unseen is among the major sins. Whoever comes to a diviner and asks him, without believing him, his prayer is not accepted for forty days. And whoever believes him has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. As for one who asks him to expose his true nature to people, this is permissible.

These messages are not merely a game; rather, they are deception and sorcery. They aim to unlawfully consume people's wealth and spread misguidance, and they mock Allah's verses. Therefore, one must stay away from such people and avoid corresponding with them, and hasten to repentance if one had a good opinion of them or became involved in their falsehood, while advising others about its danger.
