Is it permissible to marry a man who is already married, 15 years my senior, who claims his wife is ill and wishes to divorce her, and who appears to be religious, yet does not pray in congregation and sometimes misses Fajr and Isha prayers?

It is permissible for a woman to accept marriage to a married man if she is satisfied with his religious commitment and character. The Shari'ah does not stipulate that there must be a defect in the first wife for polygyny to be permissible. Rather, it requires the man's ability to marry and his observance of justice among his wives. Therefore, if the suitor is a man of religious commitment and good character, there is no objection to accepting him.
