Who are those whose companionship is not permissible?

It is not permissible to associate with bad companions because they will be enemies on the Day of Resurrection. Allah, the Almighty, says: "Close friends on that Day will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous." Furthermore, their companionship brings many harms in this world and the Hereafter. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, likened a bad companion to the bellows blower, who either burns your clothes or from whom you find a foul odor. All evidence indicates that associating with bad companions is not permissible.
