What is the ruling on reciting supplications (du'as) with weak or denounced chains of transmission (asanid), with clarification of the types of hadith (weak, denounced, fabricated) and an explanation of which of them are impermissible to act upon or recite?

If the intention behind supplicating is to use supplications mentioned in weak or denounced hadiths, there is no harm in it, provided that they are free from any Sharia-prohibited elements, such as sin or severing ties of kinship. It is not a condition that they be established in the Quran and Sunnah, though supplicating with supplications from the Quran and Sunnah is preferable.

As for merely reciting these supplications, there is no harm in it. However, it is not permissible to attribute them to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, unless they are authentically established from him, nor to believe in their reward except after their authenticity is proven. It is advisable to alert listeners to the weakness of their chains of transmission if they are recited in a public place.
