Is the mother's action correct in giving her husband power of attorney over the two apartments, and is it incumbent upon her to work due to his unreliability, and what is the best course of action with a father who squanders his money?

The Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade wasting money and spending it on anything that is not beneficial. Scholars considered mismanagement of money to be corruption. Whoever does not manage their wealth well and wastes it is considered foolish (safih), and should not be given money; rather, they should be prevented from disposing of it. The verse (And do not give the foolish your wealth, which Allah has made a means of sustenance for you) indicates the permissibility of placing an interdiction on the foolish to preserve wealth.

If the father does not manage money well and wastes it, then an interdiction must be placed on him, and he must be prevented from accessing the money. The mother should cancel the power of attorney to protect the funds. He should be advised and reminded of the impermissibility of wasting money and of his responsibility to care for his family, for the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "It is sufficient sin for a person to neglect those whom he supports."
