The answer

Rabia al-Adawiyya was an ascetic, devout, and humble worshiper. Many sayings on asceticism and wisdom have been attributed to her, such as her words to Sufyan al-Thawri: "You are but a few days; when a day passes, a part of you is gone. Soon, when a part is gone, all will be gone, and you know this, so act accordingly." Among her other sayings is: "I seek forgiveness from Allah for the lack of truthfulness in my saying: 'I seek forgiveness from Allah.'" Rabia would pray all night, and at dawn, she would take a light nap, then wake up startled, saying: "O self, how long will you sleep? How long will you keep saying [you will do something]? Soon you will sleep a sleep from which you will not awaken except on the Day of Resurrection." She lived for eighty years and passed away in 180 AH. No miracles or divine favors were known about her, except for the sayings on asceticism and wisdom that were transmitted from her.
