It is permissible for a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) to leave his house before performing ghusl (ritual bath), as narrated in the hadith of Abu Hurairah in the Two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim), where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, met him while he was in a state of junub. Abu Hurairah then went and performed ghusl, and the Prophet said to him: "Subhan Allah! Indeed, a believer does not become impure (najis)." However, the person in a state of junub must not delay the ghusl until the prayer time has passed.
