Is a Muslim's commission of a haram or makruh act—while being aware of it—considered hypocrisy?

A Muslim's commission of a sin or a violation of Islamic law does not necessarily mean he is a hypocrite. Sins are committed by both believers and hypocrites. The difference between them is that the believer fears his sin and repents from it, whereas the hypocrite does not care about it. As Ibn Mas'ud said: "The believer sees his sins as if he were sitting under a mountain, fearing it might fall on him, while the hypocrite sees his sins as a fly that passed by his nose, and he brushed it away like this."
