Is a wife entitled to refuse obedience to her husband if he deliberately withholds maintenance without a valid excuse?

A husband is obligated to spend on his wife according to what is customary. If the husband abstains from spending, the wife has the choice between leaving him or being patient with him. If she is patient, she is not obligated to allow him conjugal rights, and the maintenance then becomes a debt upon him. She may also go out to work without his permission. As for obedience to the husband in matters other than this, it is binding upon the wife, in accordance with the general purport of the texts, and his guardianship does not fall due to his failure to spend.
