Does a wife's obedience to her husband become void if he does not pay the full mahr, nor provide for her while controlling her money, and he insults her and throws her out of the house that she contributed to building, and discloses her secrets, and demands happiness from her during intimacy despite his ill-treatment of her, and refuses to communicate to solve problems?

A wife's obedience to her husband is obligatory in what is good and lawful (ma'ruf). The husband is obligated to provide for his wife, and she is not required to spend from her own money. What the wife earns is her exclusive right, unless the husband stipulated a share of her money in exchange for her work. If the husband does not provide for her and the wife agrees to stay, she has the right to refuse intimacy with him. The non-payment of the dower (sadaq) does not exempt the wife from obeying her husband, as it is a debt owed by him. The husband is not allowed to prevent procreation, as it is a shared right, and he is not permitted to practice coitus interruptus ('azl) without her consent. It is advisable to reach an understanding with the husband and demand that he treat her well (ma'ruf) and provide for her. If he does not respond, wise individuals should intervene to reconcile.
