Scholars have differed regarding the recognition of intellectual property rights, and the preponderant view [al-qawl al-mufta bihi] is that they are recognized absolutely. Infringement of these rights occurs according to the conditions set by their owners. Therefore, it is not permissible to download or use their works except after seeking their permission, unless they have allowed it.
