Must one repeat the Dhuhr and Asr prayers – shortened or full – for having wiped over a splint, then discovering it was possible to wash the affected area?

A splint is what is placed on a broken or wounded limb. Jurists have agreed on the permissibility of wiping over it when needed, such as when washing would harm the limb or removing the splint.

Specialists (doctors) determine the duration for wearing the splint, and it must be removed at the end of this period; wiping over it is not valid thereafter. If specialists do not specify a duration, and it is highly probable that the wiping continued after recovery, then the prayers performed with this wiping must be repeated.

When making up missed prayers, if a traveler's prayer is made up while resident, or a resident's prayer is made up while traveling, it should be made up as a complete prayer (four rak'ahs), according to the more correct opinion of the Shafi'is and Hanbalis.
