Is it permissible to discard magnetic disks and cassette tapes that contain Islamic lectures or Quranic recitations, and how should one dispose of them?

Magnetic discs and cassette tapes containing the Qur’an, whether written or recorded, do not take the ruling of a Mus'haf (physical copy of the Qur'an). Therefore, it is permissible to touch them and carry them to the restroom without being in a state of ritual purity. There is no harm in disposing of them when they are damaged, and this is not considered a desecration of the Qur’an. It is preferable to give them away as charity if they are still usable.
