How can God's acceptance of His servants' repentance, and His forgiveness and pardon of sins—if they meet their conditions—be reconciled with not being drawn after false hopes in God?

Allah accepts the repentance of those who repent and forgives the sins of those who turn to Him. The Almighty said: (And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons sins), and (But indeed, I am the Forgiver of whoever repents, believes, and does righteousness and then is guided). This keeps the door of hope open for sinners, so that Allah may accept their sincere repentance that fulfills its conditions.

As for the forbidden hopes, they are hopes for forgiveness and entry into Paradise while persisting in disbelief or sins without repentance, as the Almighty said: (And they say, "None will enter Paradise except one who is a Jew or a Christian." These are their [empty] desires. Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful.")
